Filip Novosel - tambura / Tihomir Hojsak - double bass
On Thursday, October 3rd, the grand hall of the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments will host an original fusion of Croatian ethno, world music, and jazz, brought to you by the acclaimed duo Hojsak & Novosel. Known for their distinctive sound, they have been active on the international jazz scene for years, performing in countries such as the USA, China, India, Germany, Italy, Austria, France, Norway, Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Romania, and many others.
Their journey began under the name "Bow vs Plectrum," combining the sound of the bow with the pick. Hojsak’s double bass and Novosel’s tambura - a traditional Croatian stringed guitar-like instrument with very specific timbre, create a unique blend of jazz and Pannonian melodies, a combination that has earned them considerable media attention and opened the doors to the international jazz world.
The duo has collaborated with numerous top-tier musicians such as Gibonni, Vlatko Stefanovski, Matija Dedić, Miroslav Tadić, Božo Vrećo, Monika Leskovar, Neno Belan, and Elvis Stanić. They frequently perform with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tambura orchestra of Croatian Radiotelevision.
